Good Deeds Lead to Ethical Conduct

It is convenient and all too easy these days to hear wonderful sound bytes from organizations regarding their values and ethical standards.

We often hear about employees taking an annual online course concerning ethics and that this training is helpful to promoting ethical conduct.

Truth be known, most workers know the real score and think that occasional ethics training is a waste of time.

As a former executive, I agree with workers regarding the ethics landscape and associated training taking place today.

At the end of the day what matters the most are actual deeds that are based on selfless values.

Purposeful leadership is all about transparency and reputation. Purposeful individuals rarely waste their time concerning the perception of being ethical, but are totally focused on implementing positive change via actions.

How do we travel from the public relations world of sound bytes that create the illusion that ethical conduct is really taking place?

Such a high speed train ride generally is void of accountability and responsibility.

The more relevant and fundamental answer is that this path is a step by step process that always requires monitoring, assessment, and reflection.

It starts with the construction of a moral compass that has a purpose built around values.

This is truly the foundation of who we are, what we are all about, and where we are going.

The size of this ethical foundation doesn’t matter; it truly is qualitative.

You may have previously read how important I feel it is to consult our moral compasses daily.

Failure to do so can result in running away from our moral dilemmas and not confronting them properly.

Our lack of discipline, faith, and purpose often leads us down a road of possible shortcuts and compromises.

However, when we consult our moral compass and monitor ourselves on a daily basis, this inevitably takes us to performing good deeds.

Good deeds in my book leads to ethical conduct that is meaningful and purposeful.

Imagine if you will a planet Earth driven by good deeds and ethical conduct. Humanity would elevate to the possibilities we were designed to adopt and achieve!!

My friends, we can get there with a little bit of effort each day and it is imperative that we strive to do better.

Do your best every day and look out for others.

Be a good deed doer and enjoy the smiles of other people less privileged than you.
