Religion In The Workplace- Is This Good For Developing Personal Ethics?

How much religion should there be in the workplace and can this develop and increase personal ethics?

The answer to this question is not an easy one and certainly has at least two parts to it.

Perhaps the first answer is simply this. Every individual’s religious views and beliefs in the workplace should be respected, supported, and tolerated unless they infringe, interfere, or impose on other worker’s rights and their beliefs.

I believe that religion and specifically Christianity when practiced consistently, authentically, and honestly can be a powerful foundation to increasing personal ethics in the workplace.

What would the benefit be to our companies and organizations if people exhibited respect, consideration, courtesy, tolerance, and love for one another?

We certainly would see less discrimination, bullying, arrogance, and harassment occuring that increases human capital and decreases wasteful, unnecessary, and painful costs.

Since morals, principles, and values comprise the essence of our personal ethics, I can think of no better reference point than our religions to provide us with the foundations for our beliefs.

I’m going to ask that our leaders who are Christians or who have other religious beliefs make it a top priority to not place their own interests in front of the needs of their colleagues, most who work for them.

Our business, civic, and political leaders need to be quality role models first and this isn’t possible without their personal ethics leading the way.

There is no way that their constituents, employees, and colleagues will support them if they aren’t honest, transparent, reflective, appreciative, and humble in their behaviors.

All of us need to consider just what our morals, principles, and values are on a daily basis.

Do these comprise our personal ethics and do we conduct ourselves in a way that is good, decent, and fair to all?

Lastly, think about your religious beliefs and who you serve. There are some 7 billion people on this earth all unique and gifted in some way.

Be patient, be grateful, and be thankful for what you have.

Grace and humility very much comprise my Christian beliefs and remain the cornerstone of personal ethics.

Remember, to do your best every day and strive to do the right thing!!
