Ethics and Quality Decision Making

Do you believe that ethics is necessary to make quality decisions in our lives?

Do you believe that ethics is a vital component of a moral compass?

Do you believe that practicing sound ethics is essential to living a successful and a fulfilling life?

Most reasonable people would answer yes to all of these questions without much effort.

While the majority of people talk a good game in terms of their intentions, most of us struggle to consistently review the values contained in our moral compasses that lead to quality decision making.

Why is this so difficult given the obvious and wonderful rewards of a fulfilling life journey? Consider the following possibilities and evaluate them strongly:

1) We think the old adage of practice makes perfect is overrated when it comes to our ethics. In other words, we rely on our stated words, statements, and opinions to carry the day and avoid making poor decisions.

2) We fail to seek out, review, and question our moral compasses that provide the proper anecdotes to dilemmas.

3) We allow ourselves to rationalize and justify issues in our lives that often take us down the wrong fork in the road making our problems worse.

We all make questionable and poor decisions in our lives at various junctures and the consequences can be serious.

To avoid the pain of these setbacks, it would be wise to hit the brakes and consult our moral compasses first.

This is never easy steps given the pressures we often encounter in our personal and business lives.

I encourage all of you to think about your values each day and use them to defend against shortcuts that might turn into questionable decision making.

Practice makes perfect and our ethics can help us to lead successful and fulfilling lives.

Don’t bow to the pressure of others– rely on your moral compasses to help you take the right paths.

Be well, maintain your faith, and always strive to do your best each day.

Peace/blessings,

Mark
